Warranty Information

ROLL SHUTTER LIFETIME MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY

This is a non-transferable lifetime warranty applicable only to certified roll shutter products supplied and installed by Security Shutter Ltd. (SSL). Coverage applies to defects in materials for the entire period the product remains installed by SSL in its original location.

The Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty is limited to the following components only: panel (hood), curtain, end slat, and guide rails. This warranty does not apply to any other components, nor to products that have been relocated, modified, improperly installed, or serviced by unauthorized parties.

All moving parts are warranted for one (1) year from the installation date, or from the original invoice date for supply-only orders, whichever applies. Electric operators and electronic components are warranted for five (5) years, excluding damage caused by faulty or non-compliant wiring, installation errors, power irregularities, misuse, or external forces beyond SSL’s control.

ROLL SHUTTER INSTALLATION WARRANTY

Security Shutter Ltd. (SSL) warrants its roll shutter installations against defects in workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of successful installation & initial operation. During this period, SSL will, at its discretion, repair or replace any component found to be defective as a direct result of faulty workmanship. SSL reserves the right to inspect all reported issues, damaged parts, or equipment failures to determine whether the warranty claim results from an installation-related defect.

WARRANTY LIMITATIONS  - The Exclusions

The following items, conditions & circumstances are not covered under any SSL Warranty:

  • Service Call Fees: After one (1) year from the date of installation or original invoice (whichever applies), a Service Call Fee will apply to all service visits, regardless of whether parts, labour, or travel would otherwise be warrantable.

  • Unreported Damage: Damage or defects not reported at the time of delivery or installation, or not identified and reported promptly upon discovery.

  • Misuse & External Causes: Damage resulting from improper use, abuse, accidents, vandalism, war, acts of God, failure of mounting surfaces or supporting structures, vibration or resonance issues, or exposure to harmful materials or chemicals.

  • Improper Installation: Any installation performed by a contractor, owner, or third party that does not follow SSL’s installation instructions (available at securityshutter.ca) will void all warranties, expressed or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

  • Emergency Service Calls: Emergency Service Call Fees are not covered under warranty & are non-negotiable, regardless of warrantable parts, labour, or travel.

  • Unauthorized Modifications: The addition, removal, or alteration of any shutter components that results in improper operation or product failure.

  • Electrical Issues: Incorrect wiring, improper electrical connections, or wiring motors in series that results in motor or system failure.

  • Unauthorized Service Work: Any repairs, modifications, or adjustments performed by parties other than Security Shutter Ltd. during the one-year installation warranty period.

  • Maintenance Services: Routine, scheduled, or preventative maintenance is not covered under warranty.

Security Shutter Ltd. will make every reasonable effort to evaluate & fulfill valid warranty claims professionally & within a reasonable timeframe. No other warranties, obligations, or guarantees—whether spoken, implied, or expressed—are valid beyond those outlined in SSL’s written warranty documentation. The purchaser is not entitled to reimbursement or compensation beyond what is expressly stated as a covered warranty item.

WARRANTY CLAIM

Warranty claims must be submitted promptly upon discovery of any defect believed to be eligible for warranty coverage. A completed Warranty Claim Form, along with all required supporting documentation & attachments, must be provided for review.

The claimant must provide reasonable access during normal business hours to the location of the shutter. An individual 18 years of age or older must be present to authorize warranty work, confirm completion & verify that the shutter is operating in accordance with its original intended use & customer requirements.

For products sold on a Supply-Only basis, or in cases where the shutter was not installed by Security Shutter Ltd. (SSL), the claimant may be required to purchase a replacement product from SSL in advance. If the warranty claim is approved, SSL will refund the replacement purchase in accordance with the warranty terms applicable to the originally purchased product.

Please note that warranty claims may take approximately 4–8 weeks to review & process, depending on the nature of the claim and required documentation.
